Amazon sales
Question regarding sales on Amazon...does buying from the 'New & Used' sellers count towards the DVDs Amazon sale count/rank?

Is it better, in terms of supporting the show, to buy less seasons at the full Amazon price, as opposed to buying more seasons at used prices? I don't have a terrible amount of money to spend on DVDs right now, but I'd like to do what I can.

I am so sick of good shows being cancelled.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that buying DVDs from other sellers (besides Amazon) counts towards the sale rank. When another seller sells a DVD (or book), the company (like MGM) doesn't receive any profit from sales and has no record of the sale being made. (I know that when used bookstores first opened in the U.S., legislation had to be passed in order to make selling used books legal; publishers weren't happy not to receive these profits).

Gah. I definitely know what you mean. I've spent way too much money on DVDs lately, money that I should be putting to better use. But Amazon's sales lately have been pretty good; seasons 2 and 6 of SG-1 are both available for just under $25 each, for example.

I agree - I would think that buying used would be like buying from a friend. The money goes into their pocket directly.
